About the holiday home

Welcome to this fantastic little village "Flatebyn" which is located in the southeastern part of Munkedal municipality. Here the best of two landscapes meet, Munkedal in Bohuslän and Valbo-Ryr parish which is located in Dalsland. Flatebyn is a charming village reminiscent of "Bullerbyn" in Astrid Lindgren's saga, with falu-red houses and white knots. The farm was previously an old estate where the master of Swedish weaving art Johanna Brunsson was born in 1846, before there was a school in the building and today it’s furnished as a party room.

Here you live in a charmingly furnished apartment built in 1878 and located in the other part of the school located in scenic and rural environment where the houses are surrounded by meadows, fields and have a fantastic proximity to fishing, wilderness, swimming, hiking, paddling, nice bike paths.

At the entrance, you enter a bright lovely hall with a bathroom with shower and toilet to the left of the hall. A lovely country-style kitchen with high ceilings. After the kitchen, there is a stylishly furnished living room with TV. After the living room, there is a double bedroom with comfortable beds. Between the bedroom and living room is a light airy curtain. There is a great atmosphere in this apartment. WiFi access. There is a patio to the left outside the apartment and you have the possibility to use the large barbecue area with a roof by the brewhouse. The homeowners live on the farm, separated from the apartment.

Enjoy everything that nature has to offer such as berries and mushroom picking, hiking trails close to fishing and swimming, including in Viksjön which is located about 2 km from the house where there is a sandy beach and shallow and wonderful to swim. There are many nice bathing spots in nearby lakes. For those of you who like to hike, the Viksjöleden is a nice hiking trail where you can also get there by bike. In the area are Vågsäter's beech forest and Strömmarnas nature reserve. In Valbo-Ryr you can fish with a fishing license in Viksjön, Kikerudsjön and Valboån. The access to fish is great, with species such as pikeperch, pike, perch, bream, roach and more.

Here you get a peaceful holiday in a rural cottage idyll, moose and deer are just around the corner from the accommodation!

Tips on what you can do! The homeowner is locally historically knowledgeable and trained as a certified guide for Dalsland. Guided tours can be booked in both Dalsland and Bohuslän for those who are interested. In the yard there is a well-visited flea market "Loppisladan i Valbo-Ryr" which opens by appointment. Cycling or renting a canoe, at "Kaserna" which is located in Munkedal begins the more than 40 kilometer long Flottarleden, which has historically been a transport route for timber to Munkedal. For those who have their own canoe or kayak, Flottarleden is about 2 km from the cottage. Munkedal has nature areas worth visiting, everything from sea and fjord environments such as Saltkällan with its sandy beach and salt baths to deep forests with lakes and rivers. The Örekil River, which is a popular river for salmon fishing, flows through Munkedal. From the cottage you can easily make day trips to Havets Hus in Lysekil, Nordens Ark, Smögenbryggan, Torps Köpcentrum in Uddevalla, Kroppefjälls Naturreservat with a great opportunity to see moose, Akvedukten in Håverud and Dalslands Kanal are also well worth a visit. If you want to spend a day on the golf course, there are several nice courses within a couple of miles radius to choose from, for example. Dagsholms GK in Färgelanda or Torreby golf course which is Bohuslän's oldest golf course, the course is located in a castle environment with an English-inspired castle park.

Good to know! One part of the school is today furnished as a party room that you can also rent, where there is space and crockery / cutlery for about 50 people. If you prefer to be outside, there is also a patio under a roof by the brewery where there is room for as many guests. Perfect if you want a larger event of some kind or maybe a corporate event. In the yard there is an apartment for two people and a cottage with room for four people if you are a larger party or several families, you can book both. The cottages and the apartment are close to each other but still secluded. Let us know if you are interested in renting the party room or barbecue area for a fee and we will talk to the homeowner.

Tenants who live on the farm can use the large barbecue area at the brewery for their own part, at no extra cost.
