“The key transfer went super friendly woman. The accommodation was good bed lovely but the seats are in need of replacement ... seated .... The environment was great you walk the path right down the forest in the dogs enjoyed.”
Ms Saskia van der Sar  (2/1-2020)
“Great arrival. Friendly lady.”
Mr Karel Jehoel  (8/11-2019)
“Good and warm welcome, nice quiet neighbors, unfortunately no terrace but the weather was not to. I'm sure they're coming back. Only the booking process was not nice but I have already submitted an evaluation of it”
Ms Henriëtte Kleiberg  (20/8-2019)
“Nice, spacious apartment. Fully equipped. Environment was very nice, wonderful walks in the woods and visited nice towns.”
Ms H.C. van Es  (8/8-2019)
“Arrival was very well arranged. Owner came immediately when we arrived (nice that they were Dutch). Accommodation was perfectly fine and clean. Towel package was very scanty and luckily I had something with me. No cleaning material available, only a vacuum cleaner. What I found very unfortunate was that if you opened the front door was the same as the public road. It was a quiet road, but that's not nice with dogs. We had no garden, only a bench on the road.”
Mr Albert Jansen  (16/5-2019)
“The accommodation is for 2 people and excellent, good kitchen and bathroom. TV is equipped with Dutch channels and good beds. Environment is quiet and those who like to walk are in the right place here. and are beautiful. You can do your shopping very well at Schleiden, just before are Aldi, Lidl and Rewe. In the town itself a number of shops and at the Italian or bakery there is coffee with whatever you want to eat.”
Mr Jelger van Dijk  (29/4-2019)
“Had nice days. Great house for a few days.”
Mr maarten boender  (5/3-2019)
“Beautiful surroundings, and great accommodation.”
Mr A Etten  (28/12-2018)
“we were enthusiastically received, the cottage was clean and fully can walk”
Mr Albert Jansen  (30/10-2018)
“everything is there, house is nicely decorated both the kitchen and the bathroom are fine. good bed. However we do not find suitable for more than 2 people. nice walking area. shopping is fun in Imgenbroich near Simmerath with also a CA and a very good Italian restaurant with delicious coffee and apple strudel. It is also nice to stay in Schleiden.”
Ms Nora Vaneker  (17/10-2018)
“Spacious apartment in a quiet area. We did not find it cozy (very bare, it echoed a bit), but tastes differ! You can walk nicely in the area, routes are well marked.”
Mr Erik Lieuwen  (23/9-2018)
“Arrival and accommodation good. Environment beautiful”
Mr John Van Zaanen  (18/9-2018)
“Spacious accommodation for two people. All luxury present, dishwasher and even Dutch TV channels. The couch and chairs were slightly less comfortable as well as the bed. Fortunately, we had our own pillows. The environment is beautiful and we have delicious schnitzels eaten in the Alte Posthalterei in Hellenthal. Recommended!”
Mr Albert Jansen  (18/6-2018)
“The reception was fine, about waste separation we later asked a question, that is better on arrival. The house is great kitchen and bathroom, just missed a socket in the badkamer.De area is great, at Simmerath you have many shops together and the road to it is mooi.op 5 km away from Simmerath is the town of Imgenbroich with also a nice shopping center such as CA and an Italian ice café that is very good.”
Ms Annette Van Beest  (28/10-2017)
“Accommodation good, only chairs and sofa bad. Surroundings beautiful.”
Mr Herman Grachten  (9/10-2017)
“The cottage was spacious for two people and two dogs. Neat care and clean.Prima beds slept well. The kitchen was fully equipped, dishwasher !!! You can make beautiful walks”
Ms P van Doorn  (4/9-2017)
“It is a beautiful holiday home, spacious for two people. The surroundings are beautiful, from the cottage you can walk straight through the fields towards the forest. You walk down the valley and then up through the forest. Our dogs also have a great time. We made trips to Bad Münstereifel and Monschau, among others, very beautiful. For repeatability, therefore.”
Ms Denise van Bon  (24/8-2017)
“We had a very nice holiday. Arrival was nice, we were immediately received and got a tour of the house. Parking is at your doorstep. Cottage is provided with most amenities, but we always take some groceries and this was nice for things like kitchen and toilet paper, salt / pepper and stuff for breakfast as there is no bakery or supermarket in the village. However, with a 20 minute drive you will find some shops in the area. Surroundings are very beautiful and you can walk or cycle from the cottage for hours. Take the car with half an hour at various attractions and attractions. Only the bed we found was not so comfortable, certainly not the pillows.”
Ms Kris Groentjes  (21/8-2017)
“Beautiful surroundings, the village is quiet and there is no shopping or entertainment opportunity. We did not find this a problem because we were by car and could easily drive somewhere. If you are on a bike, it might be difficult. Upon arrival, the Dutch owner came to the cottage, and explained the layout. The decor was neat, no old furniture, but just fresh new. Good bed, great shower, nice couch and chairs. Unfortunately no own garden or terrace. Well, a bench in front of the door. In the sun. The area is quite hilly, so keep in mind when walking. There is also a lot of history in the vicinity, in the form of remains of the Siegfried Line, the Ardennes Offensive at the end of the 2nd WO. Schleiden is nice for shopping, Gerolstein beautiful for walking, Eifel is beautiful for walking or driving! Enough to do here!”
Ms Simone van Meenen  (18/8-2017)
“Beautiful setting, but not directly on a forest. Just walk a little bit before you're there. Also not very fresh because of the many flies and no horrors that make you need to keep the windows shut to keep the flies out. Not nice in summer and in a house where a strong dog scent hangs. Also excellent in facilities.”
Mr Thijs Witteveen  (21/7-2017)
“Very nice cottage and spacious for 2 people. We also brought 2 dogs along, and that's fine. The cottage is on a dead end street at the end of the village, with no traffic or other people. The reception was good someone from a nearby house caught us immediately and showed the stay to us. Parking is right in front of the door, where there is also a bench if you want to sit outside there is no terrace. The village does not have a shop or a bakery so if you want to have breakfast in the morning, you can do the best baking rolls in the oven. The bathroom is tidy but low the ceiling is 2 meters and if you are so long it is difficult to The shower room is equipped with dishwasher, separate oven and microwave, and the bedroom has a double bed with 2 loose mattresses, unfortunately, which made you feel the slatted floor. The bedroom, so when you wake up, you wake up early. Wi-Fi is available and works well to spot hiking / cycling routes. Considering the difference in altitude as soon as you leave the village you must go downhill, and Ultimately climb again on the way back.”

  • Holiday in Germany with children? All regions are actually suitable for holidays with children. Depending on the age of your youngsters, you might prefer the flatter beaches and calmer waves of the Baltic to the larger waves of the North Sea. Our activity homes in Olpenit are particularly suitable for bigger kids. Here you won't have to worry at all about them getting bored. The houses offer a pool, play area and other activities, such as a pool table and table tennis, so there will be no shortage of fun. The Baltic Sea destinations Scharbeutz and Grömitz certainly offer the most interesting options for families with children. Everything is close by and the North offers lots of attractions such as museums, amusement parks and zoos. Read more about the local attractions in the regional overviews.

However, it is not recommended that you rely on this, as holidays in Germany are very popular, particularly in summer. There's even more chance of grabbing a last minute deal in the low-season. For example, how would you like to just spontaneously travel to the German coast for a long weekend?

The wind in your hair, the sea stretching out before you - cycling along the German coast

Cycling is just as much a part of the Baltic and North Sea coastlines these days as essential holiday experiences like swimming, sailing or mudflat walking.

Mr Drais would be delighted! More than 200 years after inventing the bicycle, he would see whole hosts of people who use his patented means of transport for getting to school and work, as a "packhorse" for transporting goods – or for discovering the world. If you would like to immerse yourself in the Schleswig-Holstein holiday destination, there is a wonderful "Travel and experience guide" for the Baltic coast cycle path.

The counterpart to the North Sea cycle path stretches more than 430 kilometres from Kupfermühle near Flensburg to Lübeck-Travemünde. The long-distance cycle path is rightfully among the most popular cycle routes in Germany: sometimes it follows the beach, sometimes steep forested banks, then back through the green countryside or small harbour towns. Over eleven stages, for which you can download GPS data, you can discover the history, culture and landscape of the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic coast. For instance, in Flensburg, where the every day life of a modern border town is coupled with a Danish history and lively harbour atmosphere. Or in Eckernförde, where the white beaches and a quaint old town offer that pure holiday vibe.

Cruise ships, sailors and surfers define the maritime image of the Bay of Kiel, where you will find the DanCenter houses of Wendtorf Marina, one of the largest sport boat harbours in Schleswig-Holstein. The section of the long-distance cycle path through the Probstei on the east bank of the firth offers highlights on solid land: idyllic countryside with stately homes and farms, beach life and museum boats, and the Bottsand nature reserve all offer great ways to pass the time. From the Probstei, the path veers towards the sunny island of Fehmarn. You can take a spin around it on the Baltic coast cycle path – or take a detour inland to discover the island's history.

Finally, at Lubeck Bay, you will encounter the string of holiday resorts and their long beaches: Großenbrode, Dahme, Grömitz, Scharbeutz and Timmendorf to name just a few. Long piers project into the Baltic Sea and promenades invite you to take a stroll. On the steep bank of Brodten, cyclists are rewarded with a fantastic view over Lubeck Bay and the Bay of Mecklenburg. Then as if all by itself, your bike will lead you to the fish sandwiches and casino of lively Travemünde.
