“Der er lidt lydt, så hvis man har små børn skal man være opmærksom på det. 3 af sovepladserne er på en hims, hvilket er hyggeligt, men der kan blive lidt varmt oppe under taget og så er det meget tydeligt i lyd når nogle bevæger sig rundt. Slå AC til, for at køle ned, hvis varmt.”

About Rundt om Limfjorden

The Limfiord (Limfjorden) offers unique nature experiences. Here you will find both undulating hilly landscapes, plantations and field areas, and the views over the fiord from the various vantage points are simply stunning. In the following we will give you a variety of suggestions for exciting experiences on your way along the Limfiord.

The Limfiord track – a 610 km long bicycle track Would you like to get to know the Limfiord area? Why don’t you go on a cycling tour on the Limfiord track – or may be just on part of it. It is 610 km long track and takes you all the way around the Limfiord. You can also choose a fixed base bicycle tour just going on some day tours along this beautiful bicycle track.

Eshøj Plantage Eshøj Plantage (plantation) is about 4 km from the centre of Thisted. The plantation is a small botanical paradise with about 150 different sorts of trees and bushes from all over the world, and thus a wood of a very special kind.

The Limfiord centre – Doverodde 150 years after having been established, the first grocer’s shop in Doverodde, called Doverodde merchant’s house, is one of best preserved merchant’s houses from this period. Today the building house an activity and experience centre focusing on Thy and the Limfiord. In the old grain silo you will find exhibitions of geological occurrences and animals from the surrounding area.

About Limfjorden

Rent a holiday home by the Limfjord

The Limfjord is Denmark's largest fjord and connects the North Sea to the Kattegat. On a trip along or on the Limfjord, you will find a wide selection of exciting natural phenomena and cultural attractions. Few people can manage to visit all the attractions along the fjord, but here we´ll give you some suggestions that we hope will inspire you and turn your holiday experience into a great one.

The Vejlerne Nature Reserve
The Vejlerne Nature Reserve is Northern Europe's largest bird sanctuary and consists of approx. 6,000 hectares of low-lying grazing meadows, bamboo forests and brackish lakes. The "Vejlerne" or "Fords" were created in the wake of a failed drainage project. These days, it is a protected paradise for birds and bird lovers.

Eshøj Plantation
Eshøj Plantation is located approximately 4 km from the centre of Thisted. The plantation is a small botanical gem that is home to approx. 150 different species of trees and shrubs from all over the world and is thus a forest that is completely unique in character. At Eshøj, there are plenty of great opportunities to get out and get some exercise and enjoy the fresh air. The terrain is hilly and the difference in altitude between the Limfjord and the highest point in the plantation is just 25 m. You can jog but, if you prefer, you can also take it at a more gentle pace that will allow you plenty of time to see, hear, smell and sense nature's pulse and rhythm - and will also give you enough time
to discover and observe the natural surroundings that lie before you ready to be discovered.

Skyum Mountains
The undulating, hilly landscape forms part of the Limfjord coast, sloping down towards Vildsund. Here, you can find canyons and valleys created by erosion caused by the melting water at the end of the last Ice Age. There are 17 preserved burial mounds in the area. Six of them are neatly aligned in a row down over the crest of a hill. The area is protected and, in an effort to preserve the heath, Gotland sheep are put out to graze on the steep slopes.

In Ullerup, a little north of Heltborg, is a 6,000 year old stone hut, Lundehøj, which is open to guests.

Limfjord Center Doverodde
150 years after the establishment of the first grocer's in Doverodde, Doverodde Merchant's Farm is one of the Limfjord's best- preserved merchant´s houses of the period. Today, this grocery store is an exploratorium that focusses on Thy and the Limfjord. In the old grain silo, there are exhibits of the geological events and animals of the area. In the old warehouse, you will find an exciting activity room, where you can discover more about the fish and other animals that the residents of the area fished or caught around the fjord. Here, you will also find exhibits that will tell you how the grocery store developed through the ages. There are also many other exhibitions and activities to enjoy.

The ancient cemetery at Ydby Hede
This ancient cemetery is Denmark's largest with a total of 49 burial mounds. It is also one of the most beautifully-situated collections of ancient mounds.

Lunaria and Danas Garden
The art collection, which is the only one of its kind, shows rotating exhibitions of the foliage artist Susanne Tvermoes' poetic picture world - a life's work created out of foliage and flower petals. From the museum's Jutlandic adventure garden, there are views across the Vikings´ Limfjord on the North Sea which the Amber Road crossed close to Sindrup on its way down through Europe. In addition, a memorial room to the great Limfjord poets, Johs. V. Jensen, J. P. Jakobsen, Jeppe Åkjær and others has been created at

Vestervig Church
Vestervig Church is the largest village church in the Nordic countries and has one of Denmark's finest organs with 52 stops, an experience not to be missed at one of the excellent church concerts that are given. The church is linked to the legend of Liden Kirsten and Prince Buris, a tragic love story. Little Kirsten, a half-sister of Valdemar the Great had a love affair with Prince Buris, the brother of Queen Sofie. When Valdemar discovered the relationship, he forced Liden Kirsten to dance until she died. She was buried at Vestervig Cemetery. Prince Buris was blinded, castrated and chained to the church wall just beside Liden Kirsten's grave. When he died, he was buried in the same grave as Liden Kirsten.

Aalborg Golf Course
The country's second oldest golf club offers you golfing in beautiful surroundings plus fine dining in the restaurant.

Sebber Monastery
This monastery was founded in the 11th century and was home to 8 Benedictine nuns. But the main building was in fact 'only' a breeding farm - the nuns lived in Sebber Church. After it ceased to be a monastery, it was passed on to many owners - the last and current family, the Tesdorps, bought it in 1958 and has since added, for example, a golf course. In 2006, it was renovated so it can now be rented out for weddings, corporate events or ordinary family gatherings.
