Welcome to wonderful Österlen in southeastern Skåne!

There is plenty to discover and do here for both young and old. Österlen is characterized by a beautiful landscape with a unique combination of beautiful nature and interesting culture. You can enjoy the view of the countryside and the sea and experience the famous apple orchards. The winding white coastline surrounds Österlen, while inland there are plenty of old ruins and fantastic gardens.

Whether you are looking for a weekend visit or a longer stay, you will find excellent conditions for a truly enjoyable experience here. Throughout the year, there are several events to visit, such as Matrundan during Ascension Ascension Day weekend in May, where local growers, food creators, farm shops, hotels, cafes, and restaurants offer tastings and menus. In September, it's time for the Apple Market in Kivik, with tens of thousands of apples grown in Österlen. Here you can taste and feel the difference between different varieties from over 900 exhibitors. There is everything from apple drinks to works of art made entirely from apples and lots of apple-themed activities for children. A popular destination for the whole family.

Österlen lyser (Österlen shines) is a festival of light that usually takes place in late in October or early November, when the villages of Österlen are illuminated by torchlight processions, light installations, and illuminated buildings. There is plenty of food, drink, and entertainment along the way, and it is a popular feature of the autumn darkness.

There are many activities to choose from, you can discover Österlen on foot on exciting trails, by bike or from horseback. Good opportunities for those who like to camp, why not bring a mountain bike or surfboard. You can try your luck at fishing, climbing and much more. Sandhammaren's silky white sand has made the beach the best in Sweden several times. Experience the kilometer-long beach, which is one of Skåne's most popular. The sea outside Sandhammaren is actually Sweden's largest ship graveyard. There is a lighthouse from the 1860s that offers guided tours in the summer.

The mild climate and long growing season mean that, for example, there are over 20 wineries in Skåne. There is something for every taste, from microbreweries and cider houses to a wide range of traditional Skåne foods such as spettekaka, goose, äggakaka, and exciting pickled herring. Before the holiday

Rental agreement and route description

Shortly after booking holiday accommodation through DanCenter you will receive your booking confirmation by post. This confirmation constitutes your rental agreement and contains all necessary information. On the first page you will find information the addresses of your holiday home and the key pick up place, as well as a route description. At the bottom of the page there is a detachable post card for ordering miscellaneous extras, which can be useful to have while on holiday. On the following pages you will find the invoice for the stay you have booked complete with transfer order/inpayment form, stating the due date.

On arrival at the key pick up point, you will be asked to present your rental agreement whereupon you will be handed your key. More often than not electricity, water and other charges are included in the rental amount. Where this is not the case you will also receive an electricity-envelope on which the meter readings of all consumption dependant expenses are to be noted upon arrival as well as departure.

Notice of arrival

If you wish to rent a boat or engine however, you need to give notice no less than a month before arrival.

Time of arrival Arrival can take place from 4 p.m. on the day the rental period commences. If you expect to arrive at a different time please arrange this with the contact person in advance. Contact information can be found on your rental agreement.

Extras

On the detachable post card at the bottom of the rental agreement, miscellaneous extras can be ordered - however only those stated in the description of your holiday home.

All holiday homes are equipped with all kitchen utensils necessary for the maximum amount of persons, which the house can room. Bed linen, dish cloths, table cloths etc. can in some places be rented.

On the post card you can also order the final cleaning, if this is mentioned in the description of your holiday home.

All extras must be ordered in conjunction with sending the notice of arrival no less than 14 days before commencement of the rental period. If you wish to rent a boat or engine however you need to give notice no less than a month before arrival.

What is a cleaning audit charge?

We charge customers a small cleaning audit fee to prepare the room for the next guest, even as some outgoing guests prefer to clean the room themselves. Are such guests still required to pay a cleaning charge? Yes. Please let us explain.

While we appreciate guests cleaning the room themselves, we nonetheless conduct an audit to ensure that the room is in excellent shape. The cleaning audit fee we levy is for the time and effort involved in checking that our cleaning standards have been met, so that we can provide our customers with the best experience.

Pets

If you have rented a holiday home in which pets are permitted please remember that it is a lengthy and quite difficult process to obtain all necessary permits for the import of pets to Sweden. Therefore please contact the Swedish Tourist Board or embassy well in advance.

Ferry connections and bridge crossings

If you have booked a holiday home in Sweden you can either go via Copenhagen across the Øresund Bridge or take a ferry. The bridge toll is 225,- Danish Kroner/crossing. If you choose to go by ferry please remember to order your tickets well in advance.
