About the holiday home

Charming and cosy cottage with sea views and wonderful saltwater swimming

Welcome to perhaps Bovallstrand’s most charming cottage! Here, the owner has carefully and personally renovated an older fisherman’s cottage over time, transforming it into a charming, cosy and welcoming home. The cottage enjoys a sunny location and is surrounded by a lovely little garden with fruit trees, sea views and the Skomakarudden bathing area less than 100 metres away, making it easy to enjoy both a morning and evening swim. The cottage offers perfect opportunities to experience the sea and wonderful archipelago surroundings. From here, you are close to swimming spots, jetties, coastal paths, hiking trails and roads with views over the Bohuslän archipelago. It is particularly well suited to those who want to actively experience the surrounding area. Several nature trails, hiking trails with shelters and illuminated trails with a large outdoor gym and barbecue area start not far from the cottage. The nearby archipelago is also perfect to explore by kayak. The cottage is also geographically well situated for day trips to other charming coastal communities both north and south.

From the parking area outside, you enter through a gate and continue to the stairs leading up to the cottage entrance with double doors. Inside, you are welcomed by a cottage that has been renovated while preserving its soul and character. On the ground floor you will find a kitchen with a wood-burning stove, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, coffee maker and dishwasher, a large dining room with dining furniture and a tiled stove, a living room with a wood-burning stove, an office with a desk, a sleeping alcove with a single bed, and a bathroom with shower. Upstairs, you first enter a large living area with high ceilings, furnished with several single beds, seating furniture and a TV, as well as a wood-burning stove. There are also two cosy bedrooms with double beds, one of which also has a single bed. In the basement there is a washing machine and an additional toilet. From the dining room, double doors lead out onto a covered veranda with seating furniture. From the veranda, stairs lead down to the garden, which feels like an oasis with its lush surroundings. Here you can relax in the outdoor furniture with a good book or enjoy a perfect barbecue meal with something delicious in your glass while discussing the day's adventures or planning new ones.

Bovallstrand is a charming old fishing village and its location right by the sea makes saltwater swimming a natural favourite activity. Here you will also find the famous bathing islets, which are among Bohuslän’s finest swimming spots and are suitable for both swimming and fishing. Much of the historic character from the time when shipping, fishing and stone quarrying flourished has been preserved, giving Bovallstrand its wonderful atmosphere.

In the surrounding area there are several other pleasant and worthwhile archipelago communities, such as Smögen and Hunnebostrand. There is also a wildlife park called Nordens Ark, where you can encounter around 80 species of endangered animals from around the world. The beautiful natural surroundings and the opportunity to see animals such as wolves and snow leopards, or even come face to face with the world’s largest cat, the Amur tiger, make the wildlife park a very popular day-trip destination. In nearby Gerlesborg there is an art school and a collective artists’ workshop where you can see various exhibitions and also take part in different courses.
