“The house is not quite what we expected”

“The house is very neat and spacious. On the balcony of the living room and the bedrooms on the 2nd floor at the back you feel like you are in the middle of nature. The house also has a very complete kitchen. The pellet stove and fireplace not only make it warm quickly but also give a lot of atmosphere! The surroundings are also beautiful. Various walking and hiking routes run along the house. Within walking distance, a little further in Cuarreux there are even more. I would definitely book again!”

“We booked this cottage because of the positive reviews. Unfortunately, it did not meet expectations at all. The biggest problem was the hygiene. In the largest room there was an extra mattress under the bed, which meant that the room could not be thoroughly cleaned. For convenience, we had rented a linen package. This included bed linen and towels. Some of the bed linen actually needed replacing: discolouration, stains and small tears appeared. Worse still were the towels, they really stank. No idea how long they had been gathering dust. Because there was a washing machine, we wanted to wash these towels first, but this machine was also not ok. There were screws and a light in the rubber. The soap dish was even dirty and needed a thorough cleaning first. There were also a lot of cobwebs. If you pay for a linen package and a final cleaning, you expect everything to be in order and not that you have to wash or clean things yourself. Additional negatives: - Kitchen: too few coffee/tea cups present and some of them were seriously damaged. - A lot of clutter in the cupboards, but no place to store food except in the fridge. - Barbecue was not usable - Toilet on the ground floor: toilet seat too small and the water often kept running. - Deposit was only refunded upon our request and not within 14 days after the end of the stay. We also did not receive an overview of the costs withheld. Fortunately, we were able to enjoy the terrace and the surroundings. The cottage is a good base for those who like to walk. If a bit more time and effort had been put into this cottage, it really has a lot of potential.”

“Nice house, but not clean, many cobwebs. Taking a shower was practically impossible, there is no shielding so the bathroom is flooded. The remote control for the TV was not present so the TV had to be turned on on the TV itself. The key was worn so that it was often impossible to watch TV.”

“Wij zijn hier geweest met vier vrienden van 31-05-2024 tot 03-06-2024. Het huis Wood dream is een fijn huis met twee grote houten balkons aan de achterzijde. De tuin is een schuin aflopend stukje hobbelig gras, waar je eigenlijk weinig mee kan, er staan wat struiken en een mooi gevormde boom. We konden na overleg twee uur eerder arriveren dan de normale aankomsttijd van 17:00, dat was fijn. Bij aankomst stond de pellet-kachel al te branden, heel attent, en er is een mooie draaibare houtkachel aanwezig, die wij ook een paar keer hebben gebruikt. Het is jammer dat er geen kussens aanwezig zijn voor de stoelen op het balkon, dat had een stuk comfortabeler geweest. Er is een espresso machine aanwezig, maar omdat we geen bonen bij ons hadden, hebben we de filtermachine gebruikt, deze liep nauwelijks door (kalk) dus hebben we heet water opgeschonken. We hadden mooi vlees meegenomen omdat er een bbq aanwezig was, er zaten echter grote gaten in de bodem, en alles zat, net als de roosters, volledig onder de roest. Het is niet mogelijk om te douchen omdat er meteen naast het bad een schuine wand loopt, dit is zeer onhandig. Tevens heeft het bad een hoge instap, voor mensen die op leeftijd zijn, of slecht ter been, is dit zeker niet aan te raden. We hebben ons verder goed vermaakt, de omgeving is heel mooi, en er is veel te doen in de omgeving. Ook zijn er een aantal mooie/leuke dorpjes en stadjes in de buurt met goede restaurants. Eigenlijk was ik nog geneigd om het verblijf als goed te omschrijven, ondanks de hierboven genoemde punten. Ik heb gekozen voor de omschrijving "redelijk" omdat de borg pas op 10 Juli is terugbetaald, i.p.v. de vermelde en afgesproken termijn van 14 dagen. Er zijn aardig wat reviews (op verschillende websites) te vinden waar het terugbetalen van de borg nog veel problematischer verloopt. Er staan er ook een aantal op Belvilla, als je op "alle beoordelingen" klikt, krijg je ze niet in beeld, het lijkt dan of "recent" geselecteerd is, maar als je nog een keer op recent klikt, zijn ze pas zichtbaar. Wij hebben de borg gelukkig na ruim een maand terug gekregen, maar daar heb ik wel drie keer een whatsapp voor moeten sturen naar de contactpersoon van de vakantiewoning, zonder enige reactie terug. Pas nadat ik telefonisch contact heb opgenomen, en een uitgebreide mail heb gestuurd naar Belvilla, is de borg teruggestort op mijn rekening. Voor mij is er geen herhalingsgevaar, doe u voordeel met deze informatie, en check de eerdere reviews. Bij gebruik van de beoordelingen op de website van Belvilla, vergeet niet om nog een keer extra op de button "recent" te klikken. Met vriendelijke groet, Rob”

“Mooi gezellig huisje....wel een kleine tafel als je er met 6 personen gaat verblijven....in de winter gaat er veel warmte verloren via de terrasdeuren maar de kachel en pelletkachel maken het gelukkig wel warm. Wij komen zeker terug”

“Very bad experience. The house was not clean, the hot tub was not maintained and therefore not inviting to use. In addition, there was no possibility to shower properly in the bath. The deposit, which had to be refunded within 14 days of departure, was only partially refunded after a number of emails and threats. No explanation or settlement, just a portion of the money in the account after almost 10 weeks after departure. Our first (and especially last) experience with Belvilla and Wood dream is one to quickly forget!”

“The rotating fireplace was awsome :) Cleaning was not great, there were hairs on the pillows and the tub was not properly cleaned, so before bathing my children I cleaned it. There is a shower cap but it does not work, which means you can only bathe and it"s quite complicated to wash the tub afterwards.”

“The house is fine and nicely located, but... - We asked for sheets to be provided (I suppose in some cultures it's a thing to take your own sheets on holiday but honestly, who wants to make the bed on holiday?) and what we saw on arrival were old and in at least one case already used (to the extent that there were strong Turin Shroud vibes). The old sheets were ill fitting and tatty. - When we asked for replacement sheets, one set was fished out of the basement and they were musty. - On arrival, we had to hand over a deposit to the owner's representative, as well as read the water and electricity meter (so that the cost of what we used could be deducted on departure). I realise that energy prices are high these days but (a) we weren't planning to boil multiple kettles for the duration of our 48 hour stay or take 500 showers and (b) it's not as though the rental of the place was super cheap. More importantly, I've had to text the owner's representative multiple times since the rental finished more than three weeks ago and still have not received the deposit back. - I've contacted Belvilla and have been informed it will take them 6 to 8 weeks (if I recall correctly) to process my complaint. Honestly, it would be so easy for the owner to make a couple of simple improvements but as it stands I could not in good conscience recommend this place. I can't say that I'll never use Belvilla again until I hear the outcome of their review, but if what I see on Google is accurate, I'm not the only one who has been disappointed, and I don't hold out much hope for the complaint to be dealt with properly. In summary, a nice place badly let down by a lack of attention to important details and poor follow up.”
